The hull of the
Dragon is roughly 25% thicker than any normal starship,
ablative armor included in the increase. Originally, the
starship was to have it at 50% thicker, but they found having
a hull only 25% thicker was much more efficient, and allowed
for maneuvers that would mean the added 50% to simply be too
much. The Dragon could easily out-maneuver an Intrepid class
starship, a feat most large starships can not accomplish.
Also, there are
four computer cores, two on each section of the ship. Each
have bio-neural gel packs integrated into their system.
The Dragon is
now equipped with new weaponry who's specs the crew received
from the three dimensions they visited in the 'Dimension
Exploration' series. One of which is a huge Phaser Cannon
placed on top of the saucer section directly in front of the
bridge. It looks as if it were integrated into the hull of the
ship, which it partially is, and so leaves the bridge
respectfully as the highest point on the ship. It's
destructive fire output is 15 times that of the Dragon's
normal phaser banks, making it a powerful tool against objects
such as Asteroids as well as against huge, heavily shielded
ships or stations.
On either side
of both the Torpedo Section and the Captain's Yacht covered
bay are two Federation-adapted Borg cutting 'phasers.' These
phasers produce a very narrow-beam phaser blast specially
designed to cut through a ship's hull like butter using the
intense energy concentration. The power concentration creates
a power out put of 15 times greater than the normal phasers,
but as said before, the concentration allows for 'melting'
through the hull instantaneously. Theoretically, the phasers
could cut through a sovereign from bow to stern in less then
five seconds. However, it's effectiveness against shields,
except in some cases, such as the Vorkalai, is very limited.
The USS Dragon
retains two decks under the saucer section used solely for the
purpose of carrying and firing Quantum Torpedoes*.
The twin launchers, though not considered rapid-firing
launchers, do launch Quantum Torpedoes at a faster rate than
normal, and since they are twin launchers, can fire up to 8 in
a single launch sequence. On a Dragon class starship, the area
designated as the 'torpedo section' is either 2 or 3 decks. On
the Dragon, it is only two decks. However, those two decks
carry 6000 tightly packed Quantum Torpedoes. Everything, down
to even disarming accidentally armed torpedoes, is left to the
automated computer system. With one command from the tactical
or the command station, the computer does whatever necessary
to diffuse the situation**. The
storage area is also very unique. With automated 'tubes' for
the torpedoes to travel down at nearly the speed of sound, the
torpedo launchers are quickly re-loaded, and efficiently. The
torpedoes aren't armed until they reach the launcher.
On either side,
facing forward, on the Stardrive section of the ship, on the
upper half of the base, behind the navigational deflector, are
two Photon Torpedo launchers. Both sections carry 4000 photon
torpedoes packed in a manner almost exactly like that of the
Quantum Torpedo section.
Facing aft below
the secondary shuttle bay on the 'tip' of the Stardrive
section are both twin Quantum and Photon Torpedo launchers.
The torpedoes are also packed in a similar manner to the other
sections, but carry half of the amount of torpedoes.
placed about the ship's hull are 13 phaser banks, four of
which reside upon the nacelle struts for added target area.
There basically is no blind spot on the ship that the phasers
can't reach. They are Type XV phasers, which are relatively
unused, as they are only in the experimental stage. Test fires
of the Dragon's phasers show that they are reliable, and do
generate more fire power than any other phaser class, as comes
with going up another step in the Type number.
The Shields are
an experimental type of shielding, named the Delta-Omega class***.
These shields can actually partially bleed off the energy of
weapons fire into some ship systems, such as phasers. However,
that ability is limited, and becomes useless when it is
bombarded. However, the shields are still at a very high out
put, and could easily withstand a large bombardment, though it
would cause the ship to almost shake apart. It was joked that
the ship might actually fall apart before the shields would
fail, but sadly, that joke was later proven wrong.
warp core, which is now deemed a Type-X1, is now capable of
increasing past warp 10****, due
to changes in the deflector dish. The Dragon's emergency speed
is warp 17, but it can't last long at that speed, and is meant
ONLY as an emergency speed. It's normal cruising speed is now
up to warp 15. Due to the structure of the Warp pylons and
nacelles, the Dragon didn't require any structural changes
when the new warp drive was installed. (Technology received in
The USS Dragon
has 3 impulse engines. Two of which reside on the saucer
section on either side of the primary shuttle bay, the third
in roughly the same place it would be on a Galaxy-class
starship. As was stated prior, the ship can out maneuver an
Intrepid-class starship. This is both due to the advanced
type-X7 impulse engines as well as the powerful maneuvering
thrusters strategically placed about the Dragon. It has been
theorized and become a simulated fact that the Dragon could maneuver
through an asteroid field of medium density at full impulse*****.
The Dragon is
powered by 3 warp cores, two of which reside on the Stardrive
section, the third on the saucer section. One Warp Core,
located in what might be considered the normal place for
engineering, is used solely for the purpose of powering the
Warp drive. This is what allows the Dragon to travel at such
highs speeds for such an extended period of time. The Second
powers most of the ship's systems, ranging from sonic showers
to phasers to even partially powering the impulse engines. The
third is usually in low power out-put mode, meant only as a
back up when extra power is needed (thought to be a rarity.)
All three have their own supplies of Deuterium, matter, and
antimatter that would last them up to ten years of full power
There are also
the usual amount of Fusion reactors, though they actually are
more efficient and powerful than most others. The two impulse
engines on the saucer section are both powered by one reactor,
while the third one on the Stardrive section has its very own
reactor. This allows for greater power for the Impulse
And of course,
the usual emergency power systems.
Torpedoes are similar to Photon Torpedoes, in that they use
matter and antimatter as its warhead. However, with Quantum
Torpedoes, a quantum filament is basically thrown into the
mix, increasing the yield of the torpedo.

Quantum Torpedo section, which also has its own power
generator. Hence, the control system for the torpedo section
is completely self sufficient, and the possibility of a
malfunction or power failure is almost non existent.

the Jem Hadar's experiments, and later the Federation's
experiments, with this technology.

speed of Warp 10 without special modifications to the
deflector dish and warp field, you will be everywhere at once,
and will begin to evolve at an exponential rate.
fields are measured in density. In other words, the amount of
asteroids in one area. Say in one asteroid field, for every
square kilometer, there are 4 asteroids. In the second one,
there are 12 asteroids per square kilometer. As such, the
second asteroid field has a greater density than the first one
does. It also depends on the size of the asteroids.
